Meet Our Owners
Rebecca Patterson, LPCC-S, RPT-S
Since enrolling in her first psychology class in high school, Rebecca has known that her passion and calling is to work in the mental health field. During her collegiate years at Centre College, she grappled with which direction this interest would take her. She majored in psychology and psychobiology in her pursuit to identify whether psychiatry or counseling would be the direction she would take. It was after a summer internship at a local hospital that Rebecca knew undoubtedly that counseling was where her gifts and talents would be best served. She went on to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2006. She then embarked on a journey that would lead her through several different private practices, working with clients of all ages, and attending a plethora of trainings to identify her niche. Rebecca attended her first Play Therapy course in 2008 and immediately knew that this was the work that she wanted to devote her life to. She became TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) certified in 2014 and then became a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor in 2019. Rebecca has been using play and trauma work over the last 13 years to bring healing and growth to clients and their families here in our community. Her longing for a safe and nurturing environment for her clients has led her to the founding of Nurture Nest. She has created this Play Therapy and Counseling Center as a safe haven for clients of all ages to work through life’s challenges and struggles. It is in this space that clients will feel empowered to do the deep work of healing.
